17 year old boy suffers multiple stab attack on Henley Road, Ilford!

A 17 year old was stabbed several times on Henley Road, Ilford at around 20:30 last night.  It is believed that there was more than one assailant involved in the fight that has put this teenager in critical condition.,

Several Police officers, a specialist dog unit and two ambulances were on site last night, as the boy was flown by helicopter to receive hospital treatment.

The East Ilford Betterment Partnership in conjunction with local Police will be holding a public meeting on Friday 2nd November 2012 at 19:00, to update the community and advise on how to avoid such attacks.

The meeting will be held at Clementswood community Centre, 14a Connaught Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1RN.

Mammoth Day Redbridge 2012

The East Ilford Betterment Partnership will be holding a family fun day on Ilford Lane to celebrate the Installation of a new plaque commemorating the huge archaeological mammoth remains found in Ilford, during excavations in the 1850's.

Location:                                        Car Park of Ilford Methodist Church corner of Britannia Road and                                                                             

                                                       Ilford Lane.  

Activities:                                        Unveiling of Mammoth plaque, musical and dance entertainment, free                                                      barbecue,  face-painting, henna tattoos, Nail art, Recycling stall, plant growing, drawing and games for Children.                                   

  

Senior guest speakers at our event include:

• Professor Adrian Lister - Paleontological department at the Natural History Museum London - World expert on Mammoths.
• William George - Former Professional Archivist and Geologist - Member of GeoEssex
• Terry Quirk a retired university lecture and leader of "Ilford Mammoth Project

Our thanks to contributors to the design and text for the monument including

Mammoth bones are currently being displayed in Ilford Central Library and the Paleontological history of our town, is most noted for the only complete Mammoth Skull and largest deposits of Mammoth remains ever found in Britain.

The complete skull is still one of the highlights of the various exhibitions in the Natural History Museum London and is termed "Ilford Mammoth"

A former plaque that had been installed during the Festival of Britain was stolen in January and we installed a temporary plastic version during the Olympic Torch Relay, before a crowd of over 400 people.

Our community fun day with include a free barbecue and music day, at which we invite you to come and get your free "Mammoth Burgers".  There will also be some face-painting, Nail art and Henna painting activities which be charged for - all proceeds go to the victims of recent Pakistani floods.  Redbrideg School of Gymnastics will perform some floor routines and will attempt to form up in the shape of a mammoth - well worth the watching...

Redbridge Community Awards

Our Redbridge Community Awards aim to recognise outstanding community work and extraordinary achievement by individuals, groups and communities in our Borough.

Nominations for the awards for this year have now opened with a deadline of the 29th October 2012 for completed returns. We'll be writing to those who have been successful shortly after this date. Nominations must be made by another party; self-nominations will not be accepted.

Remember these are Community Awards so simply being good at sports or music is not enough.  There must be a valid contribution to the local community!

Redbridge Peace Event 22nd September 2012

Children of all diversities playing together joyfully

A community barbecue welcomed people.

Exciting rides was a new addition to our events at the Prince of Wales.

Children from across the Borough learned played in  unity.

Redbridge's London Week of Peace event was well received by local people, many of whom stayed for hours.  The event which was put on by the BPCA and supported by the EIBP brought together people of wide diversities in an atmosphere of unity and joy.   

What was particularly rewarding about this event was the huge number of volunteers for a small event.  A team of 26 made this event an easy one to co-ordinate.  We also forged stronger links with the newest migrant community from Romania.  Ilford's Romany people seem to enjoy our events and we are using these dates to help them integrate better with the long standing locals.  

Sania Satwat Chair of the EIBP said;

"It was great to be part of a local community event that brought so many nationalities together.  Local schools distributed our leaflets internally making it an event that was packed with young children and families.  This is exactly the target audience we wanted to reach."
